Current BMW Bikes
Most current BMW motorbikes were designed by David Robb who was the chief designer at the company between 1993 and 2013. He has now been replaced by Edgar Heinrich who's designs are sure to keep the BMW Motorrad legacy alive. The most popular model of BMW motorcycles in recent year is the R1200GS. It is a bike that you can take anywhere and put it through anything and it will always ask for more, a true feat of engineering.
All BMW Motorrad motorcycles are categorized into product families. Each family is given an assigned letter prefix to make it easier for us to tell which family is for which type of riding. The current families are as follows:
S1000RR - sport bike with transverse-mounted, 999 cc inline-four engine.
K series - four-cylinder engines of 1,157 to 1,649 cc capacity featuring shaft drive. Models are K1200LT, K1300GT, K1300R and K1300S. In 2011, BMW Motorrad launched the six-cylinder 1,649 cc K1600GT and K1600GTL.
R series - twin-cylinder boxer engines of 1,170 cc capacity featuring shaft drive. Models are R1200GS, R1200R, R1200RT, BMW R1200RS, R1200S and R nineT.
G series - single-cylinder engines of 449 to 652 cc capacity which feature a chain drive. Models are G450X (now discontinued), G650GS, G650 Sertao, G650 Xmoto, G650 Xchallenge and G650 Xcountry. The 450 cc engines are manufactured by Kymco in Taiwan. The 2009 and 2010 650 cc engine parts were manufactured by Rotax in Austria, with the engine being assembled by Loncin Holdings, Ltd in China.
F series - parallel-twin engines of 798 cc capacity, featuring either chain or belt drive. Models are F650GS, F700GS, F800GS, F800R, F800S, F800GT and F800ST. The F650GS was powered by a single cylinder 652cc Austrian built Rotax engine.
C series - Maxi-scooters called Urban Mobility Vehicles by BMW.
The BMW Motorcycle Lineup
BMW M 1000 RR: The BMW M 1000 RR bike is closely based on the S 1000 RR. However, it is noticeably superior. This high-performance bike is the first-ever M Division BMW motorcycle and is significantly distinguished from the S 1000 RR. Although the engine has the same design as the S 1000 RR, it has been updated with brand new, high-quality internals, making an impressive 212 hp. BMW intended the S 1000 RR for advanced riders as it has a top speed of over 125 miles per hour and can reach that faster than most can handle.
BMW R 1250 RS: The BMW R 1250 RS is a spectacular sportbike created for sport-tourers. This motorcycle features a 1,254 cc twin-cylinder boxer engine that produces 136 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque. With a top speed reaching over 125mph, this engine is a design that BMW has truly perfected over the years.
BMW R 1250 GS: The BMW R 1250 GS is one of the most impressive and recognizable motorcycles available. BMW uses this specific engine on an array of motorcycles as it is powerful and highly efficient.
BMW R 1250 GS Adventure: The BMW R 1250 GS Adventure is a substantial ADV bike, renowned for being one of the finest bikes available to experience. It offers a more rugged package and features the same 1,254cc twin-cylinder boxer engine as the standard GS, produces 136 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque. This Adventure model includes a range of extras, including crash bars, skid plate, spoked wheels and more. BMW also produced a limited edition 40th Anniversary Edition of this bike with special exclusive equipment and different livery.
BMW S 1000 XR: The BMW S 1000 XR introduces sportiness into the adventure touring experience. This unique motorbike is a road-focused adventure touring machine with a fantastic 999cc engine reaching 165 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. This bikes gearbox was conveniently reworked recently to reduce noise at higher speeds.
BMW F 900 XR: The BMW F 900 XR is more sporty than it is an adventure. However, it has some considerably long legs that can provide excellent ground clearance, making it more capable than other street bikes might be. The bike has a twin-cylinder 895cc engine that produces 99 hp and 68 lb-ft of torque.
BMW F 850 GS: The BMW F 850 GS is an adventure touring machine that provides the ultimate experience. This bike is many peoples first choice of BMW's adventure bikes.The F 850 GS features a twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled 853cc inline engine, making 90 hp and 63 lb-ft of torque.
BMW F 850 GS Adventure: The BMW F 850 GS Adventure takes what the regular F 850 GS provides with the addition of off-road equipment and exterior upgrades. This considerably improves the bike allowing it to perform better and travel further. This bike features the same 853cc twin-cylinder inline engine that makes 90 hp and 63 lb-ft of torque as the regular motorcycle.
BMW F 750 GS: The F 750 GS is a fantastic everyday adventure touring bike. It strikes an efficient balance while still providing substantial power and plenty of capability. This bike features a parallel twin-cylinder engine with 853cc. This engine offers 77 hp and 61 lb-ft of torque.
BMW G 310 GS: The BMW G 310 GS is the perfect everyday companion for a relaxed life on the roads. It has comfortable GS ergonomics and high-quality equipment, featuring a 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with 33.5 hp and 20.7 lb-ft of torque.
BMW K 1600 B: The BMW K 1600 B is a reasonably stripped-down version of the K 1600. This touring motorcycle offers a unique combination of everyday cruiser aptitudes and excellent touring capabilities. It is something you won't find with other K 1600 bikes. Its engine is the venerable 1,649cc inline six-cylinder that produces 160 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque.

BMW K 1600 GTL: The BMW K 1600 GTL is the absolute prime motorcycle for touring, especially if you plan on riding two-up often. The bike comes equipped with numerous features and an abundance of storage, making it ideal for any long journey. This bike is built with a 1,649cc inline six-cylinder engine that produces 160 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque.
BMW R 1250 RT: The BMW R 1250 RT was recently reworked, implemented with brand new technology features and equipment, including hill start, innovative blind-spot monitoring, and dynamic cruise control. This bike is a fantastic touring motorcycle with sporty characteristics. It has a BMW boxer-twin 1254cc engine that makes 136 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque.
BMW S 1000 R: The BMW S 1000 R is a high powered naked motorcycle with an aggressive and quick performance. The S 1000 R also looks the part, with attractive styling and a ready-for-action attitude. This bike has a 999cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine that produces 165 hp and 84 lb-ft of torque.
BMW F 900 R: The BMW F 900 R is a high-quality roadster bike, only released last year. The bike is relatively similar to the F 900 XR. This bike features an 895cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, producing 99 hp and 67 lb-ft of torque, a constant-mesh six-speed gearbox with an anti-hopping clutch and an approachable 30-inch seat height.
BMW G 310 R: The BMW G 310 R is a small-displacement naked bike with a 313cc single-cylinder fuel-injected engine that produces 34 hp and 21 lb-ft of torque. This new bike model is compliant with the latest Euro 5 emissions standards.
BMW R 18: The BMW R 18 is a unique motorcycle targeted at taking on Harley and Indian Motorcycles in the cruiser segment. The bike is a prominent comfy cruiser with a nostalgic, old-school style. This motorcycle features a massive 1,800cc parallel-twin engine that's air and oil-cooled, producing 91 hp and 116 lb-ft of torque.

BMW R NineT: The BMW R nineT was recently updated to be compliant with emissions. The updated R nineT has a boxer twin engine with a displacement of 1,170cc, which produces 109 hp and 86 lb-ft of torque.
BMW R nineT Pure: This bike is a well-crafted and straightforward machine with its cast two wheels and a sleek and sophisticated overall look. At its core, it is the same bike as the standard R nineT but with some minor equipment and style tweaks. This bike has the exact same engine as the other R nineT motorcycles, a boxer twin engine offering 1,170cc, 109 hp and 86 lb-ft of torque.
BMW R NineT Scrambler: The BMW R nineT Scrambler is good at scrambling off-road trails and loose gravel. It has the identical 1,170cc boxer twin as the other R nineT models, with the same power. You're looking at 109 ponies and 86 lb-ft of torque.
BMW R NineT Urban G/S: This bike is arguably the best-looking motorcycle in the entire BMW lineup. It harkens back to the original adventure bikes from BMW, bringing an old-school Dakar styling whilst being more street-focused than off-road focused. The engine for this motorcycle is the 1,170cc boxer twin with 109hp and 86 lb-ft of torque.
BMW C 400 X: The BMW C 400 X is a medium-sized scooter designed for the challenges of urban environments. This bike is nimble, agile and offers excellent storage space. The motorcycle is powered by a 350cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, producing 34 hp and 26 lb-ft of torque. It has a high level of power and an mpg rating of 67.
BMW C 650 GT: This is a maxi-scooter designed to cover long distances efficiently. The BMW C 650 GT is agile enough to take on urban streets and powerful enough to travel long distances comfortably. The C 650 GT has a solid 647cc two-cylinder inline engine that's liquid-cooled and produces 60 hp and 46 lb-ft of torque. The scooter also makes a 51 mpg rating, so it's built to ensure efficiency.
